RYCA

RYCA started out with Scrawl Collective back in 2005 with his now famous “Reservoir Troopers” print. Little did we know then, the extent of his talents. At the time he made his living making and fitting pub signs, (an early form of street art?) A Stroll through Soho with RYCA is basically punctuated every 50 yards or so with “I made that one”, “that’s one of mine”…. He brings the same prolific work ethic to his art.

A pop artist more than a street artist RYCA has continued with his mash-ups of pop culture iconography. He hasn’t forgotten his pub sign making roots either. His background and familiarity with so many processes allows him to work in many disciplines, whether it be sculpture, bas-relief or screen-printing. The Star Wars mash-ups made his name but his subsequent explorations of rave culture have proved to be a rich seam as have his inlaid “pub signs” with their quotes from film dialogue and pop lyrics.
